[the most frequent prayers]

What are our most frequent one-breath prayers? “I don’t know.” “I have no idea what You have prepared.” “What will happen?” “Will I make it?” “When will it happen?” “Thank You.” The future is unknown. We are tempted to dwell on the past because it’s known and it cannot change. The present is a too-vague …

[tough answers]

Bill Grandi posted about “Questions“ today, and it reminded me of the times when the questions are so honest, you’re at loss as to what to answer. It was the day after the altar call service. While there was a lot of fun activities and games, there was also serious stuff. In the evening, the …

[option to give up]

It was 6:30AM on day #4. The counsellors were mostly alive, yet the tiredness was already settling in their eyes. Coffee was a drug of choice. Prayers were said with eyes open (otherwise, the danger of drifting away was big). The day ahead was an important one – it was the day when the kids …

[compassion: continued]

The idea of compassion still doesn’t leave my mind for the third day in a row now. You can read the previous post here: [compassion]. Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it’s logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, …

[javert – the power of the past…]

Javert reminds me of those priests who walked past the wounded man in the parable about the Good Samaritan. He considered himself superior, cleaner, more righteous than all those others who did not have the same level of Law-abiding habits.

[my God’s enough]

The guys you see in the picture are our dear missionaries – Bob and Colleen Skinner. Both of them are wonderful. In 15+ years of knowing them, I don’t think I have ever seen Colleen angry – she literally RADIATES joy, even when I know she’s dead tired (seriously!). She has been a blessing and continues to be one.

[God is still God and God is still good…]

Stumbled upon this video at David Wilson’s blog. Taking into account that I had lost three people I knew to cancer, this video… besides making me emotional, also reminded me of the attitude we all should have. Enjoy life. No matter what it brings.

[leaders’ bootcamp: epic fail… or not?]

Writer’s block is a scary thing. Yes, I know I have been whining about how I want to turn my thoughts off, but once my wish was granted, I realized that it’s a very discomforting feeling. Thankfully the mind is recovering slowly (God, please don’t listen to that particular prayer of mine ever again). I …

[leaders’ bootcamp: control & planning]

I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for. Jeremiah 29:11, the Message It was a long time since I have been just one of the “kids” in the camp and not a leader. I got …
