I used to keep diaries since I was a kid. It just felt good to re-read them later and laugh at my English skills (because I could never really convey the exact meaning or find the perfect word in Russian or Ukrainian). It also was interesting to observe the changes in my life and character.

I know we’ll get through this and this is not the worst thing that could happen. In the meantime, however, I miss the one I love. His company. His desire and ability to make me laugh. His kindness and his warmth.

On my way to work this morning, I was reading The Sacred Diary of Adrian Plass, seemingly a funny book full of irony and satire… yet there was a chapter on forgiveness and turning the other cheek.

After a long time of no bikes whatsoever, during this mini-vacation, I decided to rent a bike (since I don’t own one…yet) and go for a ride. First time, one friend of mine joined, then another one decided to go with us.

Tomorrow is the Palm Sunday. Over here we call it Willow Sunday because we don’t have palm trees but willows are in abundance.

Sometimes you realize that even your best friends don’t understand you.

It hurts.

But then, you realize something else – even if you don’t see eye to eye on every single thing, being best friends means that you can put those differences aside because friendship matters.

The other day I got to my apartment building, walked into an elevator, and pressed the button for 8th floor. Quite usual procedure that I repeat at least a couple of times daily.

This time nothing happened.

The button did not work.
