Bouncing Back?

Bouncing Back?

“You gotta learn to roll with the punches. Life isn’t easy sometimes.”

Yeah, I know. But there’s a limit to how many punches you can take before you find yourself on the floor of that boxing ring.

I hate change with a passion.

I usually bounce back fast. Go down, consider the options, weigh the pros and cons, embrace the pros, get up.

But there are days and weeks when I feel like staying down. I don’t want to get up just to get pushed down again by another change.

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matthew 11:28-30, MSG)

I don’t think I am burned out (yet)… but I definitely feel worn out and overwhelmed with the stuff at work. And yet I kind of feel ashamed that I don’t even know what to come to God with. I feel that there’s absolutely nothing I can offer besides this weary soul. (Granted, not that I could really offer anything before…) I can only stumble into His presence and stay there, silent because I don’t have anything to say.

So… I sit here, struggling to breathe at times, and wondering what to do.
