[thoughts that come at 1am]

I am much better with written words than spoken.

Some say it’s because the world is changing and we’re more used to texting / e-mailing / messaging / whatever. I still think it’s because I am an introvert, but that’s the “latest big thing” and everyone’s claiming to be introverts… so I won’t push that issue.

I used to keep diaries since I was a kid. It just felt good to re-read them later and laugh at my English skills (because I could never really convey the exact meaning or find the perfect word in Russian or Ukrainian). It also was interesting to observe the changes in my life and character.

When Sam and I just met (online), I began writing short notes. I used to do it with the guys I previously liked but with them, I wrote it without saying names or giving much detail. Here, it felt different, somehow.

So, I wrote,

It’s been a bit over a month since we’ve “met” on Facebook. In the last week, we have chatted daily and met several times. And I am enjoying all these times of communication.

Will it go anywhere? I have absolutely no idea. But I really want it to… well… lead to something bigger than just being friends. I enjoy his sense of humor and his faith. It makes me feel all fuzzy when he says “I’ll pray for you.”

So we shall see.

And after watching the War Room just now while waiting for Sam to come back from the men’s meeting, I realized I want to keep writing our story to observe and make it easier to remember later.

I can’t believe it’s almost two years since we’ve signed the papers to get married. I know for some it might be a tiny grain in a sand clock, but… wow. Two years. And time flies when you’re having fun (especially when your most beloved person is right next to you).

I thank God for sending Sam my way. I am thankful that Sam chose me for some reason even though I didn’t fit his “requirements” on the website at first 🙂 And I am thankful for these years of laughter and getting through challenges together.

  • And I thank God for sending Sam your way and giving you a “completeness” you were missing. I’m excited for your future.
