[daily verse: Luke 10:40-42]
Martha was pulled away by all she had to do in the kitchen. Later, she stepped in, interrupting them. “Master, don’t you care that my sister has abandoned the kitchen to me? Tell her to lend me a hand.”
The Master said, “Martha, dear Martha, you’re fussing far too much and getting yourself worked up over nothing. One thing only is essential, and Mary has chosen it—it’s the main course, and won’t be taken from her.”
How often do we create all kinds of services, ministries, and whatnot – and forget about the main thing? That main relationship that is the reason for the ministries and stuff?
On one hand, I understand the reasoning behind ministries – we want to serve as many people as we can since this is what we have been called to do… yet what about simplicity? We have forgotten
With our busy life, it seems almost impossible to find quiet time.
We have so many inventions that aim at making our lives easier, to free time for other, more important things, and yet we only end up complicating our life even further as if it’s the only goal.
So as a reminder to us all – don’t forget to spend time with the Master while running errands and trying to make Him feel comfortable. He’d be more pleased with an avid listener than with a hearty meal (even if the latter would also be nice, afterward.)
