[the name]

Names are powerful things. If you take a look at the history of humankind, names meant a lot.

For some nations, names were only known by those closest to the person.

For other nations, they had several names.

In all nations, names have a meaning behind them.

God obviously values names too – and the meaning hidden in them. Just count how many times He has changed someone’s name for it to fit the person’s new mission? Abe, Sarah, Peter – just to name a few.

Last night, as I was praying (or rather, talking), I suddenly remembered His earthly name. The name that His mother called Him… The name that was talked about.

Yeshua.

In English / Russian / Ukrainian, that name sounds sharp and tastes crisp.

Jesus. Eesous.

In Hebrew, on the other hand, it tastes smooth and soothing. Try saying it out loud and feel the smoothness of it…

Yeshua.

For a child has been born—for us! The gift of a son—for us! He’ll take over the running of the world. His names will be: Amazing Counselor, Strong God, Eternal Father, Prince of Wholeness.

Isaiah 9:6, MSG

She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Yeshua – “God saves” – because he will save his people from their sins.”

Matthew 1:22, MSG
