I have been a bit obsessed with reading / watching Harry Potter lately. And as always, whenever I am reading / watching something, I try to find lessons that I can apply in my life.
At the prayer meeting tonight, one of the girls mentioned that it seems like God is present in everyone else’s life, but not in hers. “It seems as if He doesn’t care…”
The rest of us tried to cheer her up sharing our own experiences from the past when it seemed like every single door we have tried to walk through was slammed right into our face… only to find out that in the end of that long closed-door corridor there is the door that you were destined to go through and which will bring your potential.
As I started watching Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone once again for the umpteenth time, I thought about all the troubles that Harry went through – his parents were killed when Harry was just a one-year-old baby, 10 long years with Dursleys (his uncle and aunt) who hated him, no friends… However, it all prepared Harry to become whom he did.
“You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart”
Although he was quite a legend in the world of magic, the fact that he didn’t get proud is amazing – and I think a lot of it came from the fact that he had a rough life and learned humility early on. Even his signature spell is telling – “Expelliarmus” – which disarms the opponent but doesn’t hurt him / her.
Anyway… It’s late and I simply wanted to say this…
When it seems like everything is going the wrong way… There is a plan – a good one. Just trust His guidance.
