FAIR WARNING: This post is mainly for venting and letting the thoughts out of my brain. I don’t want them to crowd the precious space any longer, hence the blog shall act as a Pensieve.
In a week, there were way too many celebrations. Of the three top ones, only celebrating Easter made sense to me because there is a true reason to rejoice.
On Friday, it was impossible to trek the internet without the word “Wedding” popping everywhere. When I posted on my Facebook the status “Just another couple,” all I got was “Boo”… Yet still, I’ll borrow Bill’s way of saying things emphatically:
I mean, seriously. Quoting Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice “If you prick us do we not bleed? If you tickle us do we not laugh? If you poison us do we not die?”
I know a lot of lessons can be derived from the wedding, starting with the fact that we are King’s children, so our weddings are royal, too… However, once again – if we are King’s children, why all the hype about the child of an earthly Queen getting married? For me, I’d rather get excited about my friends’ weddings…
Until the afternoon today, I was in a blissful ignorance to the “big news.” Then I came home, logged onto Facebook and the barrage of news topics assaulted me like a avalanche. Obviously, the “big bad wolf” is dead.
Forgive me for maybe sounding caustic or disrespectful of Americans, but c’mon people – THINK. It is dumb to think that once Bin Laden is dead, the terrorists will be like “OOOOhhh, we’re afraid of those smart and armed Americans. We better not touch them anymore or else they will come and kill us all.”
I read what Bush wrote and I couldn’t help but feel disgusted at man’s [pretended] stupidity:
Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.
JUSTICE???!?!?!?! A VICTORY FOR AMERICA?!?!??!?!?!!!!
Seriously, is the man as idiotic as he sounds?
This is the main reason why I don’t usually watch news. Call it hiding from reality, but I want to at least think that those men who’ve got the power are intellectual people, not some ignorant boys with toys. I would laugh at that message from Bush if only I didn’t want to cry.
I can’t help but think of Orwell’s 1984 and Animal Farm.
And all I am asking… People, THINK for yourselves.
And another thing… two things, actually.
1. You are just as important to God as the royal family. You ARE royalty because you are His child. You are MORE than simple royalty of this world. Don’t EVER forget that.
2. The victory for America did not happen yesterday. If anything, that was a disastrous beginning of a bigger and badder something. BUT – TRUE Victory was won 2,000 years ago on that wooden cross by a man called Jesus. He killed the true “big bad wolf” – Death itself. And THAT is truly worth of a great celebration.
